Information System Administration (Minor)
The Minor in Information System Administration prepares students to work knowledgeably in information systems and administration, which includes coursework covering installation, configuring, upkeep, activation of accounts, security controls, installation and configuration of routers and switchers, monitoring of network performance, and troubleshooting and repairing problems among multi-user computers such as servers and large-scale systems to the deployment of the cloud and the use of virtualization.
Minors may be combined with a major from another program, and consist of at least five courses (a minimum of 15 semester hours).
The Minor in Information System Administration provides a coherent set of ideas, concepts, and educational experiences in a variety of areas, so students may find that the minor will enhance potential for professional development and can prepare students to enter the Master of Information Technology and Management or Master Cyber Forensics and Security programs.
