FDSN Spring 2025 Seminar: Arthur C. Curran
The Department of Food Science and Nutrition presents its spring 2025 seminar series featuring Arthur C. Curran, salesman at Citrus and Allied Essences, Ltd., who will give a presentation on “The Use of Natural and Artificial Ingredients in Safe Manufacture of Consumer Product.” This seminar will take place on Thursday, April 24, from 12:45–1:45 p.m. in room 111 (auditorium) of the Robert Pritzker Science Center.
Abstract
This presentation will focus on the safe and acceptable use of aroma chemicals and essential oils for flavor and fragrance manufacturing. U.P. or Ultra Processing is becoming a consumer concern especially for food and beverages, but also for fragrances. This presentation will focus on natural and artificial ingredients that are safely used to manufacture these consumer products.
Biography
Arthur Curran has been in sales and sales management in the food and flavor industry for more than 45 years. He currently holds a sales position with Citrus and Allied Essences, Ltd. based in Belcamp, Maryland. C&A is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of essential oils aroma chemicals and related flavor and fragrance ingredients.Curran has worked in numerous capacities in his work career in the flavor industry, including warehousing, manufacturing, production, sales and sales management. Arthur has served on the board of NAFFS and is currently serving on the board of the 鶹APPland Food Science Foundation. Curran is a graduate of Marist University in New York with a B.S. in Business with a marketing concentration and a minor in philosophy. Curran has been a volunteer fireman and continues to volunteer at a local VA Hospital and with Honor Flight 鶹APP. Arthur is passionate about promotion of potential careers in the food and flavor industry and presents to high school and college students. He lectures about the industry at college and university foods science departments about the safe use of ingredients for food, flavor and fragrance manufacturing.
