Upon arrival, please contact our staff on call at 312.758.8386. We will be expecting your arrival and will provide you with your ID’s and escort all to their rooms. The best encouraged check-in hours would be between 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; however, we will happily accept guests at any time.

When entering into the buildings at any point, guests will use their Hawk ID’s to access the building. You will also need to tap your ID at the front desk so that our Desk Assistant is aware of who is entering the building. The Hawk ID is also required to access the elevators.

The laundry room is located in the basement of Carman. The washers and dryers are free to use. When you enter the elevator, tap your ID and press B. Please remember to bring your own supplies, such as laundry detergent, toiletries, etc.

On the main level 1 and in the basement, you will notice private rooms and lounge spaces. These are open for your use at any time!

Each bed will contain a linen pack. Each linen pack will contain the following:

• flat and fitted sheet
• pillow and pillow case
• blanket
• hand wash towel
• bath towel

Everything except the pillow and blanket will be washed on a weekly basis on Fridays for those staying longer than a week. Please ensure that used linen packs, except for the pillow and blanket, are left outside the door to be washed.

Summer meal options for the semester include meal plans and meal tickets. 

Summer meal plans for the semester include: Summer Block 150 (150 meal swipes), Summer Block 100 (100 meal swipes), Summer Block 75 (75 meal swipes), and Summer Block 50 (50 meal swipes).

Guests with meal plans must tap their Hawk ID upon entering the Commons.

Guests with a meal ticket must submit it at the counter upon entering the Commons for their meals.

For internet access, please login to Okta (access.iit.edu) with these credentials:

User: UID (full email address - username@hawk.iit.edu)

Password: mmddxxx (date of birth and last 4 digits of Anumber)

Once you set your own password, you should be able to connect to IIT's WiFi.

• Sunday: CLOSED
• Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 9:00pm
• Friday: 8:00am - 7:00pm
• Saturday: 8:00am - 2:00pm

Please remember to bring the appropriate adaptors and chargers. The standard voltage in our area is 120V, and the outlets are type A/B. Ensure your devices are compatible or have the necessary adaptors to avoid any inconvenience. You may need a plug adaptor that converts to type A/B and a voltage converter if your devices are not dual voltage.

Students must bring their own mobile devices with international access, as no phone lines are available in the rooms. Ensure your device is set up for international roaming or purchase a local SIM card upon arrival.

If you have keys to your rooms to return, drop them off at the Office of Residence Life. For check-outs outside of office hours, please use the dropbox located right outside our office to return the keys.

There is no other specific action required from you for check-out. You will be automatically checked out from IIT housing. Please leave your used linens and towels in your room, and our cleaning staff will handle their collection.
