On to the Championship: Illinois Tech Women’s Soccer to Play for Conference Title
The Illinois Tech women’s soccer team will continue its impressive season on Saturday, November 4, with a chance to make it even more special: the Scarlet Hawks will host the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference tournament title match on Mies Campus.
Illinois Tech (19-2-1), the #1 seed in the NAAC tournament, will host #2 seed Milwaukee School of Engineering (18-1-3) at 1 p.m. at Stuart Field. The Scarlet Hawks gave the Raiders their only loss this season: a 2-0 Illinois Tech victory in Milwaukee on September 23.
The winner of the championship match receives an automatic berth into the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Women’s Soccer Championship.
On November 1, the Scarlet Hawks clinched a berth in the championship match with a over #5 seed St. Norbert College. Caitie Chismarich (BME 4th Year) scored two goals and Kelly Hitchcock (ME 4th Year), Kaitlyn Walsh (CE 1st Year), and Allison Murray (ARCH 2nd Year) each scored one as the Scarlet Hawks won their eighth straight match.
The Scarlet Hawks strong play in the NACC tournament comes on the heels of its first NACC regular season title. Illinois Tech went unbeaten in conference play, finishing 13-0.
