Law Professor Harold Krent Named Â鶹APP Lawyer 2018 Person of the Year

Harold J. Krent, who will step down as dean of Â鶹APP-Kent College of Law next year, was named 2018 Person of the Year by Â鶹APP Lawyer magazine.
The magazine cited Krent’s many accomplishments as dean, including his role in encouraging law students to take on pro bono work, as well as curriculum and program changes at the law school during his tenure.
Krent joined the Â鶹APP-Kent faculty in 1994. He was appointed associate dean in 1997 and interim dean in 2002 before assuming the deanship in 2003.
Krent’s scholarship has focused on legal aspects of individuals’ interaction with the government. He has served as a consultant to the Administrative Conference of the United States. He has also litigated numerous cases with students on behalf of indigent prisoners. Krent is author of the book Presidential Powers, a comprehensive examination of the president’s role as defined by the United States Constitution and judicial and historical precedents.
