International Exchange
Mariano Municoy (LL.M. ’04) was already pursuing an LL.M. in Law and Economics at Torcuato di Tella University in Buenos Aires, Argentina, when he decided to take advantage of the university’s exchange program with 鶹APP-Kent College of Law in 2003.
His courses with Professor Graeme Dinwoodie were “the best I ever took in my life,” but the adjunct professor who had the biggest impact was Brad Hulbert of McDonnell Boehnen Hulbert & Berghoff LLP, who inspired him to focus on intellectual property law exclusively when he returned to Argentina after earning his LL.M. in International Intellectual Property Law.
In 2007 Municoy joined Moeller IP Advisers, an Argentine firm with a strong presence in Latin America and Europe. He was promoted to director of business and professional development in 2015 and was named a full partner in 2017. One of his responsibilities is expanding Moeller’s business in the United States.
The ensuing trips to the United States almost always included visits to 鶹APP-Kent, and Associate Professor Mickie Piatt and Professor Edward Lee invited him to teach one-week courses during the fall intersession.
Municoy thinks of 鶹APP as a second home and particularly enjoys teaching at 鶹APP-Kent, noting, “It’s one of the five best IP schools in the U.S.”
